WORLD PAIRS FINAL

SWEDEN hosted the World Pairs final and delighted their supporters with a stunning win, by a single point ahead of rival nation Denmark.  They took advantage of a mixed start from the other sides to move ahead at the top of the scorechart and then got the job done with a 5-1 in their final race.  Olle Nyman was in great form and partner Alexander Bengtsson gave the perfect support to help take the Swedes to the title.

Steen Eriksen and Leon Jeppesen both recorded double figures for Denmark but Jeppesen took some time to get going and they couldn't quite overhaul the head-start they had given to Sweden over the earlier heats.  Jack Hagen was the outstanding rider for the USA, with his partner scoring in just 2 of the 6 heats, but Hagen's 12+1 points was enough to ensure a run-off for 3rd overall and he completed a fine individual display with his third win of the meeting to clinch a rostrum spot.

Poland and Norway both finished a point behind the USA and Finns but, like the latter, neither had a rider able to really take the meeting by the scruff of the neck to see them onto the final rostrum.  Poland were somewhat unlucky with Klecha taking a tumble and Kryznowek suffering bike problems in their last heat and without those blips would probably have taken 3rd overall.  Solberg recorded double figrues for Norway but it wasn't enough to see them finish higher than 6th in the end.  Australia were unlucky to lose Tyler Tebby to injury at the halfway point, after he had won his opening ride, and finished 5 points adrift of the field.
