FINLAND/NORWAY GRAND PRIX |
RAY FRANCE (MILTON KEYNES CATS) had just one minor blip as he claimed victory in the Finland/Norway Grand Prix and moved up to 2nd in the standing overall with the series at the halfway stage. It was a strange round where most of the other leading riders struggled and none of the other Grand Finalists are currently in the top 8 places despite adding 14 points each here. 2nd in the round for KENNI ALGREEN (WANTAGE KINGS) and 4th for RUMUN DIMOTROV (unattached) did help them cut the gap to the automatic places though and they are now 10th and 9th respectively. Dimotrov was unlucky to suffer bike problems in the Grand Final with Wild Card pick Arne Karlsen taking advantage to cap a fine display with a rostrum finish. |
Defending World Champion BOGUSLAW KRYZNOWEK (MILTON KEYNES CATS) had another steady round with the poor performances of his closest rivals seeing him extend his lead at the top of the current leaderboard despite failing to reach the Grand Final for a second round running; he now has a 3 point gap ahead of Ray France. Other Semi Finalists in this round were LEON JEPPESEN (unattached), with by far his best display of the series so far, STEVE EDGAR (READING REBELS) and LOUIS JOOSSENS (HULL ANGELS). Joossens moves up a place to 7th while Edgar narrows the gap to the top 8 from 8 points to 3, although curiously he actually drops a few places down the standings at this stage! |
Of those who started the day well placed but didn’t have the most sparkling of displays in this round, although all remaining in the top 8 and still aiming for automatic qualification for next season at the very least, PETR MARKO (BOTTESFORD BULLETS) did at least take 6 points to stay 3rd overall. Marko seemed to have some machinery gremlins too and will be hoping for an improved display in the next round. HAYDEN WOOD (BIRMINGHAM BOURNVILLIANS) scored 5 points, TIBOR NEMECEK (NECRONS) scored 4 and JERNEJ KEGLOVITS (BRATISLAVA BUZZARDS) just 2 but still hold the places from 4th to 6th overall. JACK HAGEN (STOCKHOLM SCORPIONS) added 4 points to his total but stays in the top 8, although with a whole host of riders right behind him who are seemingly coming into form at the right time. |
